Enterovirus D68
"What Parents Need to Know about EV- D68

Washing hands correctly —using soap and water and washing for at least 20 seconds...
is the most important thing you can do to stay healthy.

As you are likely aware, the United States has been experiencing a nationwide outbreak of Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) associated with severe respiratory illness that has been especially harmful to children.
Almost all of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-confirmed cases this year of EV-D68 infection have been among children.  Many of the children had asthma or a history of wheezing.  Many parents continue to be worried about the outbreak and want information about what they can do to prevent illness and protect themselves and their families.

Click Here to download the Parent Fact Sheet, which contains information about transmission, symptoms, treatment and ways to help protect your family from EV-D68.

Purple PinkieThe Purple Pinkie Project is coming to Suwannee Primary School on Tuesday, March 24th.

The Purple Pinkie Project was initiated by Rotary International to stomp out the deadly disease, Polio, in third world nations. The idea was that members of Rotary and Interact clubs would go around local schools where students would become involved in the project and donate a dollar. One dollar is all it costs to vaccinate someone from Polio. To prevent people from getting a double dosage of the vaccination, Rotarians would dip the person’s pinkie in purple ink. To remind the student of how their dollar can save a life, their pinkie is painted purple as well. Hence the Purple Pinkie Project exists.  Be a part of something that will help save lives!
Be sure to return your signed permission slip with your $1.00 donation

One dollar to save a life!
